CAIRO – 3 October 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sis will participate in the Alamein Consultative Summit, bringing together the leaders of Egypt, Eritrea, Sudan, and Somalia on Sunday to consult and coordinate on regional issues of common interest, said the official spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency on Saturday.

The spokesman added that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will also participate, Sunday, October 4, 2026, in the Eighth Mid-Year Coordination Summit of the African Union, hosted by New Alamein City.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Évariste Ndayishimiye, President of Burundi and current President of the African Union, on the sidelines of the “Alamein... Africa for Business” Forum, held in New Alamein City. They discussed the ways of enhancing the bilateral relations and the latest developments concerning the Nile water issue.

Recently, an Egyptian Official stated that Ethiopia’s decision to declare an Egyptian Embassy member persona non grata is regrettable and without justification. Ethiopia  has accused Egypt, Sudan, and Eritrea of supporting the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) opposition alliance.

He added that Egypt has consistently affirmed its complete rejection of interference in internal affairs of other states, including Ethiopia, and refrained from commenting on developments there in accordance with international law and UN Charter.

The official continued that Ethiopia has repeatedly sought to attribute its failure to manage its mounting internal challenges and crises to an alleged role by external parties, in an attempt to deflect attention from its successive crises. In accordance with principle of reciprocity, Ethiopian Embassy Adviser in Cairo has been declared persona non grata and given 48 hours to leave Egypt, he said.
