The DNC aims to ditch any progressive candidate.
15 July 2025, by Eric Zuesse. (All of my recent articles can be seen here.)
On July 14th, CNN headlined “Obama’s blunt message for Democrats: ‘Toughen up’” and reported that at a DNC fundraiser for the Democratic nominee for Governor of New Jersey, Mikie Sherrill, Obama (who had started in 2011 the wars in Libya and in Syria, and started in 2014 the war in Ukraine — all of which wars Biden and Trump merely continued) said that the Democratic Party, the DNC, should invest the most in candidates such as Sherrilll and such as the Democratic nominee for governor in Virginia, Abigail Spanberger. Ms. Sherrill had been a U.S. Representative from New Jersey, and had voted 100% of the time for Biden’s position on proposed legislation. Ms. Spanberger had been a U.S. Representative from Virginia, and had voted 100% of the time for Biden’s position on proposed legislation.
On June 26th, I had headlined “Mamdani’s Win in NYC Transforms America’s Mid-Term Political Contests” and reported that the political win by Mamdani the night before in the Democratic Party’s primary to choose its nominee for the Mayoralty terrified the billionaires and their ‘news’-media in both political Parties, and that inevitably the lies and smears against him would flood the zone in NYC and that the DNC would do everything they could so that he would lose the general election though he was now the Democratic Party’s own official nominee to become the City’s Mayor. This sort of situation has happened before: a political Party slips up and nominates a candidate whom that Party’s megadonors loathe, and so the Party Members do all they can for the opposite Party’s nominee to win the general election. The basic rule in politics is that all Parties serve ONLY their Members, and their Members are its top fundraisers, and so the Party represents ONLY the billionaires who as a group donate at least half of all of the money that promotes the Party’s nominees. Everybody else, including al of the voters, are merely consumers of whatever the billionaires dish out to them. All of this is documented in that article.
Also on July 14th (the same day as that CNN report), I headlined “The Only Way Democrats Might Win Back the White House” and pointed out that the only way Democrats might win back the White House would be if Elon Musk’s new political Party will gain enough traction so as to draw off enough Trump supporters as to make the 2028 Presidential contest a 3-way race.
However, even if that will happen, the DNC would still be very unlikely to win, and here is the reason:
Since the Party Members serve ONLY the Party’s billionaires, the Party represents ONLY its megadonors.
The problem with the Democratic Party (DNC) is that unlike the Republican Party (and its offshoot Musk’s new Party), the Democratic Party’s propaganda pretends to care about the poor, and the minorities; and, so, it is easy for the Republican Party (and Musk) to blame the poor and those minorities for society’s problems: “them” versus “us” (so that the billionaires themselves won’t get the blame). The more that the DNC will propagandize for the poor and minorities, the more that the non-billionaire rich, and the majority, will fear the DNC’s nominees and go to the polls so as to make sure that the DNC’s nominees will lose.
In other words, in a three-way race, a Party’s pretending to have a conscience increases that Party’s political vulnerability. (After all, the poor and the minorities get the blame.)
Mamdani’s strategy seems to be to talk straight to the public about the actual conditions in today’s America. Whether he would be able to do this and win while lacking any billionaire backer, so as to become able to compete against his opponent, I doubt, but the fear that he has generated amongst billionaires suggests that they think he might be able to pull this off, and they are doing everything they can to prevent that.
The DNC’s efforts (such as in Obama’s July 14th fund-raiser talk) to do everything that they can to ditch ANY aspiring Mamdani type of politician, reflects their fear that unless billionaire-friendly politicians CONTINUE to receive the Party’s nominations, the Democratic Party itself could end soon. That would be the end of the road for America’s pretenses to being a democracy.
Incidentally, back during at least August 5-7 of 2011, the Republican Party had had an even bigger -26% net-favorability rating (the Democratic Party then had a 0% net-favorability) than today’s Democratic Party does now (-21.6%); so, during that period, when the Republican Party was getting almost all of the blame for the 2008 crash, the Republican Party was the one that was in the greater danger. (Of course, today’s -21.6% net-favorability for the Dems and -10.9% for the Reps averages to -16.25% for both, which is even lower than the combined score for both was during 5-7 August, 2011, of -13%; so, Americans today dislike our Government even more than in 5-7 August 2011.)
The future for America seems grim because there is no indication that any self-correcting mechanism is built into it. Things have been getting worse and worse for a long time now, with no end in sight. The billionaires are basically optimistic for themselves, but the public are not. This is the way that the system is built. It responds to the billionaires’ wants, not to the public’s needs. For them, public opinion polls (including those about approve-disapprove ratings of the political Parties) are merely marketing tools, so as to more effectively manipulate the public (“manufacture consent”) — nothing to serve the public better. The billionaires’ Government has no interest in serving the public better. So, it doesn’t. And they don’t really even care about that. The public are there merely in order to be fooled by them. So, they are. But the public aren’t fooled about things going from bad to worse. They see it, for themselves, all around wherever they are. This is what happens when there is no self-corrective mechanism built into the system. The polls have been showing this for decades. And, in order for the system to serve the billionaires, the public must blame the poor, the minorities, and the weak, for the problems that they see. This is how the system was designed to function. So, it functions that way.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
